Art is hard to define. Impossible, even. I used to think of only painting and drawing when I thought about art, but there is way more to it. To me, art is an outlet, sort of like a journal that you share with other people through visuals. It is something that you can turn to when you just need to release your emotions. Art makes you feel something. Whether you feel angry, happy, sad, or sometimes uncomfortable, there are always emotions tied to art. When I make art, I want to be able to communicate my own feelings to other people, even if to some they look a mess. I don't think that art is supposed to be perfect or even pretty, necessarily. I want to be able to create pieces that have deep meanings and can influence other people in different ways.
I think art should be open to interpretation. To some, the principles and elements of art are the most important things. I absolutely believe that these are important, but for me, I would rather look at art that has an effect on me than something that just looks good. I really think that art is a powerful tool to help people and convey different messages. I want my art to make people feel and think and question, even if I have to work really hard to make it happen. I think that if even one person gets something from my art, it's worth it.

The Grand FinaleIt's bittersweet going into this year knowing that this year is my last year of high school art, but I'm beyond excited to see where my final year takes me. Here is where I will be sharing my final classroom art pieces of high school, as well as my concentration and my final portfolio. I hope you enjoy this journey as much as I know I will. (I say now, before the stress of creating twelve quality pieces in a semester). ArchivesCategories |
